| Hydrometers require a measuring temperature of exact 20 °C to obtain correct results. If one measure with another temperature measuring results have to be temperature corrected. Much quicker but nevertheless more precise than with the expensive complicated alcohol tables; practical undestroyable, as laminated. Example: The hydrometric reading supplies 42.2 % vol alcohol at 16.5 °C. The temperature correction value will be found out by putting on the delivered transparent angle (marked red in the graphic) in such manner, that his sides are parallely adjusted to the coordinate axles (X- bzw. Y-Achse), whereas his sides cut the X-axle at 16.5 °C respectively the Y-axle at 42.2 % vol. The angle corner of the reading angle lays in the range printed with +1.4. The true alcohol strength is therefore at 42.2 % vol + 1.4 % vol = 43.6 % vol. More precise correction values are obtained by interpolation; im obigen in the bove example +1,38 % vol. |
